I've finally listened to In The Belly of the Brazen Bull by my favourite band (The Cribs) and it is fabbbbb.
Glitters Like Gold - Perfect opener, heard it on the radio a few times and it is a radio friendly song, so y'know that's good.
Come On, Be a No-one - Short but sweet. I'll definitely do my voice in singing along to this in the car.
Jaded Youth - "If I went back to school / Would I be cool?" I ask myself this everyday. Relatable lyrics, good.
Anna - My favourite. Personally I think they spell and pronounce 'Chrissie' wrong but it's fine. I love this song just so much.
Confident Men - The drumming. The drumming is good.
Uptight - A nice little gap filler. That's not saying it's bad. Not my favourite though. But I still like it.
Chi-Town - This song will just always remind me of when I saw these Gods in Brighton and they opened with this and I went mental. Yay.
Pure O - Massive. This shows us although The Cribs are returning to their routes their music is also progressing nicely which is good as they won't get predictable.
Back to the Bolthole - Nice little slow burner. When they played this live I've never known people to stand at a gig practically in silence. Maybe it was just because they didn't know the song...
I Should Have Helped - Gorgeous. I'd love to hear Gary release a solo acoustic album. It's just such a cute song. Aww.
Stalagmites - The opener to the massive four track closing piece. The discordant guitars and the marching drum. Amazing.
Like a Gift Giver - Short and sweet. Does the trick nicely.
Butterflies - The best part of the four parter. I think there's definitely still a bit of a Marr influence in it but it shows that they haven't not learnt anything from him.
Arena Rock Encore With Full Cast - Finishes a perfect album, perfectly. Job done.
So that was a very shitty, personal review. I have no real qualifications in music apart from a Gcse at grade C and a media a level also at grade C. So y'know. You were never gonna get a magazine standard article. But whatevs. Fuck off and enjoy the music.
