The Cribs in Eastbourne.

So last night I saw my favourite band again at the Winter Gardens in Eastbourne.

As you all know I was really shocked when they announced they were playing in Eastbourne. It's not the most major of places and the Winter Gardens only holds like 400 people which is a really small capacity but whatever. I got to Eastbourne stupidly early due to wank train times and after I had some food in Subway and a pee (thank god for Mcdonalds, no way am I paying 20p in Subway!) I headed off to the Winter Gardens which meant I got there super early and I also passed their second guitarist in the street on the way and he's super cute. Anyways, I listened to the sound check and then at half six I got told to start a queue - so I did. Just before the show the Jarmans walked in the door I was queueing at and I don't know what happened. I think I just died.

Anyway I got to the barrier as that's my favourite place to be. The supports were okay. Martin Creed was good to start off with but got a bit tedious, then Crocodiles came on and they were really good. And then it was Crib time!

Typically I got beer chucked on me during Chi-Town which is an amazing opener and certainly set the tone. The crowd were a lot more lively than at Brighton but it was still a 'nice' lively. Not pushing and shoving just to piss others off. The guys also seemed a lot more talkative. In Brighton I don't think Gary uttered a word but he spoke quite a bit which was nice. There was a nice moment for me when they played Anna which is my favourite and I genuinely felt like I was going to cry. Again, during Bolthole the audience just stood pretty much in still and in silence just like in Brighton and it's not such a new song now. It really does please a crowd that song. Ryan done a really good solo version of It Was Only Love which I thought was pretty cool. Then during Be Safe they played the VT that they always play but was nowhere to be seen at Brighton so it was amazing to see that in person for the first time ever. The band played a good mix of old and new songs throughout the whole show which was really nice. I personally loved Come On, Be a No-one, Glitters Like Gold and Hey Scenesters! They closed again with City of Bugs which led into the massive Arena Rock Encore  where the band just appeared to go mental which made the whole audience do the same.

I couldn't hang around at the end of this show as I had to leg it for my train as I had an exam this morning (which was shit), otherwise I would've stayed about in Eastbourne. I also got lost and ended up on the sea front, it all looks so different in the dark. And now I'm suffering from a lovely bit of post gig depression as this time I don't know if/when I'll be seeing them again. But it was a fab night.

Long live the Jarmans.
